Durham Community Business College is an 11-16 college which has been a rapidly changing college over the last few years.  The Government Minister for Schools said in 2004 after a visit to our college, ‘the innovation and energy was apparent in the impressive developments which are taking place’.  Thus, we are delighted, now in 2009 to have seen the benefits of those developments which he recognised back in 2004!

We are extremely proud of our examination results, which now put us within the top 25% of schools nationally.  We have for two years running been one of the Schools and Academies Trust ‘most improved schools’ in the country.  This means that our students are achieving their potential and for many, are achieving beyond whatever they were expected to be able to do.  We are very proud of our students and their achievements.

Our college is calm and safe.  Feedback from students is very positive.  Relationships with parents and carers are very effective.  We are small which enables us to know all of our students well.   All this has enabled us to create a caring, but demanding, learning environment.  We challenge our students not only to achieve, but to achieve beyond their dreams.

We are federated with Fyndoune Community College, which is 5½ miles distance.  This is a real strength as it enables us to offer a very broad curriculum using specialist facilities within two small community colleges, which personalises learning and enables students to be known and valued in their home school.

If you would like to see for yourself, please do not hesitate to make an appointment and come and visit us or telephone and talk with us – we would be delighted to tell you more about our college.
