Contract type – Permanent (38 weeks a year, 37 hours a week)

Grade – Grade 6 (£22,141 – £24,080 pro rata)

Hours of work – 8am – 4pm

We are seeking to appoint a Learning and Inclusion Mentor to support the emotional health and wellbeing of our students. The successful candidate will work with a proactive pastoral team to identify students who may require support to remove any barriers to wellbeing and learning. The role will entail attending multi agency meetings such as Child Protection conferences, Core group meetings and Child in Need Meetings. 

The role will entail direct support with students, this could be on a one to one basis or in small group work to have a positive impact on emotional and mental health. We are looking for a candidate who will actively promote strategies to benefit the school community in terms of their wellbeing.

The successful candidate will need:

·        To be child focussed

·        To be solution focussed

·        To have an excellent understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Educational Settings guidance and the issues facing young people, particularly following the recent pandemic and periods of lockdown.

·        To work as part of a growing team and show initiative

·        To have excellent skills of communication and not be afraid to have challenging conversations as part of their safeguarding role

·        To have a calm and considered approach towards problem solving

·        To have the confidence to liaise with school staff, parents and potentially outside agencies.

·        To keep effective records of how young people have been supported and the rational for decisions taken

·        To have resilience, be flexible in your approach and have the ability to juggle.

The successful candidate will join a pastoral team made up of teaching staff and support team members and be expected to work with students across Key stage 3, 4 and 5.
