Camden School for Girls is a highly successful and oversubscribed inner London comprehensive secondary school with a rich historical heritage. The school was founded in 1871 by Frances Mary Buss, a pioneer for women’s education and the school has a long-standing history of ambition and excellence for all pupils regardless of background. We have a warm, welcoming and supportive ethos and aspire to excellence in all areas of the school provision. The post and candidate profile

Camden School for Girls is seeking a positive and supportive Learning Mentor to work with Year 7 - Year 11 students. The successful candidate will be open-minded, empathetic and highly motivated, with the skills to support the student with her emotional and educational needs, and to advocate on her behalf with teaching staff and external professionals.

The successful candidate will play a valued role in working with the school’s wider Pastoral Team in the continued development of creating an accessible school environment.

Camden School for Girls is a “registered body” under the Police Act 1997 because employment here involves access to children under the age of 18. This post will require an enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly Criminal Records Bureau) before we can confirm an offer of employment. Unless you are a member of the DBS Update Service you will need to apply for a new disclosure, even if you already hold one.

The post-holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact, will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with our child protection policy statement at all times. About The Camden School for Girls

Located in Camden, north-west London, The Camden School for Girls is a single-sex secondary school, offering places to girls aged 11-18. With around 1,000 students, the school has an extremely diverse student intake, reflective of the local community.

First established as a grammar school in 1871, The Camden School for Girls later became a comprehensive. Although the school is girls-only in Years 7-11, the substantial sixth form is co-educational and accepts a large number of its students from other schools in the local area.
