Akeley Wood Junior School is an independent day school for children aged 1-11 years. It is part of Akeley Wood School, which serves children up to the age of 18 across three different sites in Buckinghamshire, all based in magnificent buildings in tranquil, peaceful countryside. We place a particular emphasis on high academic achievement, but at the same time develop students’ individual talents and personal qualities in whatever direction those may lie. We lay strong educational foundations in preparation for Senior School whilst also developing in students a sense of purpose, a belief in themselves, firm friendships and a caring attitude towards those around them.


The school now has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant 1:1 to join our fantastic team. This is a Fixed Term contract position.

About the role


To support a pupil with additional needs, as directed by the Inclusion Lead and Class Teachers, to enhance progress and raise achievement in any curriculum area both inside and outside the classroom. To work closely with the school Inclusion Lead, Class Teachers and on your own initiative, to prepare and deliver appropriate provision within your teaching team to provide consistent and effective support. To make a valid contribution to the social, academic, moral, physical and emotional development.

Who we are looking for: 

To be considered for this role you will have experience of working in an educational environment and with children with Special Educational Needs. An Understanding of Safeguarding in School; Health and Safety; Data Protection; Race. We expect an understanding of SEND and the SEND Code of Practice plus understanding of strategies to support children with additional needs.

The Nursery (12 months-3 years), Junior School (ages 3-11) and the Senior School (ages 11-18) are all housed in picturesque buildings set in their own grounds with specialist facilities.
