Full Time, term-time only, permanent contract

Salary – United Learning Support Staff Pay Scale, (£23,400 to £31,012 per annum FTE, £20,191.40 - £26,759.63 Actual)

William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) is a well-established 3-18 Academy and is the most over-subscribed school in Greater Manchester with a long and distinguished history. It has a very inclusive and diverse community; with over 1600 students and 200 members of staff in total and more than 40 languages spoken, our school is truly representative of Manchester’s rich multi-cultural heritage. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and particularly those committed to diversity and inclusion.

The Primary Phase of William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) is one of the most over-subscribed primary schools in Manchester. We have an excellent reputation and high aspirations for all of our children (approx. 500), who enjoy a diverse curriculum and are equipped with the skills that will help them to become responsible members of the local and global community. “In the primary phase, there was an ‘electric’ atmosphere in many classrooms. This is because teachers plan the curriculum effectively and pupils enjoy their learning” (Ofsted, May 2019).

Reporting to the Head of School (Primary), an opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant to join the Primary Phase Team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience of working with SEND children and must be patient, caring, supportive and willing to work with a committed staff team. The ability to work and communicate well with parents and with natural authority is essential for this post. The ideal candidate will also have good numeracy and literacy (minimum A-C or 9-4 grade, or equivalent, in GCSE English Language and Mathematics). We also require a TA3 qualification or willingness to complete the course.
