Job overview

St Bonaventure's School is a Roman Catholic school, founded on gospel values and our boys are an important and integral part of the faith community. Christian principles are at the very heart of all that we do at St Bonaventure’s.

St Bonaventure's was judged as Outstanding in all areas in our most recent Ofsted Inspection in November 2022.

We seek to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our popular all boys school.

Your main duties will be to support students with their learning in lessons, and to work with them individually and in small groups. We wish to appoint colleagues who: are interested in supporting students with a range of individual needs; demonstrate skill and initiative working with young people in and out of the classroom; have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and are able to work effectively as part of the team.

The position would also suit those considering a teaching career, wishing to gain experience in a mainstream secondary school, or seeking a post working with teenagers in a supportive role in a stimulating environment.

St Bonaventure's is recognised by the DfE, Ofsted, SSAT and the Teaching School Council for our investment in improving student life chances and the development of our staff.

We believe that our students have an entitlement to the very best education, with high expectations for all in our community.

St Bonaventure’s is a popular provider of education within the London Borough of Newham and we are oversubscribed.

We are the lead school in the Agnus Dei Teaching School Alliance.

We have a long and distinguished history of educating boys, aged 11-16, in the East End of London.

Our thriving co-educational 6th Form is ethnically and religiously diverse, attracting students from across many local schools.

We offer:

An opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic, inspired and motivated team where staff genuinely feel valued and cared for.

A strong commitment to your professional development and career management.

We will provide top quality CPD opportunities for you.

We will encourage you to provide CPD to others; within our school, our borough, our diocese, our alliance and beyond.

A school with outstanding teaching and behaviour for learning, with which all our staff and the wider community feel proud to be associated.

St Bonaventure's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share the commitment. The suitability of the candidate will be assessed throughout the recruitment process

All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

Free refreshments for all staff.

Excellent local transport links and off street car parking.

St Bonaventure's School is only a short bus ride away from the site of the 2012 Olympics and the Olympic village and Westfield Shopping Centre in the vibrant area of Stratford. Stratford is a transport hub with easy access to Central London which will be further enhanced by Crossrail. This is an exciting area to live and work in.

If you have recently applied there is no need to re-apply as we have your application on file.

Closing date for applications: 10th October 2024 - 12pm

We may call applicants for an interview before the deadline date if we are especially interested in their application.

Please also visit www.stbons.org for more information about the school.

Please see Job Description attached for more information.

NB Part Time means working every day, Monday to Friday (32.5/36 hours per week), Term Time only (39 weeks per year/52 weeks per year). Salary will be pro rata to reflect this.
