South Hampstead High School, the Independent Girls’ School of the Year 2022, is seeking an individual with a knowledge of children’s literature and experience of working with primary aged children to play a key role in the junior school library.

The successful candidate will encourage our pupils to develop a love of reading and support them in accessing a wide range of literature, in addition to ensuring pupils benefit from enriching library lessons and activities.

Each class in the Junior School (Reception to Year 6) has weekly lessons of approximately 30 minutes with the librarian. Our librarian also contributes to the wider curriculum, organising author visits and contributing to the planning of events such as World Book Day.

The working hours are 1.5 or 2 days per week, during term time only.

Experience of working in a library is not essential. However, the successful candidate will need experience of working with schools or with children.
