- Fully support the school’s Safeguarding policy and know the reporting procedures to follow in case of a Child Protection issue
- To promote high standards of safety amongst the students
- To remain fully focused on the safety of pupils in the swimming pool area
Lifeguard
- Ensure the swimming pool is safe to use prior to lessons
- Identify and prevent hazards, unsafe behaviours, and potential risks.
- Maintain a “dry” presence on the side of the pool
- Perform water rescues as necessary, following established safety protocols.
- Administer first aid, CPR, and use of AED when required.
- Assist in emergency evacuation procedures and crisis management.
- Report as necessary any issues within the pool area to Director of Sport
- Maintain an up-to date Pool Lifeguard qualification
- Report any H&S concerns with equipment or pool facilities to the Director of Sport
- Remain focused and alert throughout lessons.
- Enforce facility rules, policies, and safety regulations.
- Educate users on safe swimming practices and facility rules.
- Address and correct unsafe behaviours in a respectful and professional manner
Administration/Development:
- Contacting HOD and others on matters relating to swimming pool with regards to safety
- Playing a full part in internal and external CPD opportunities including staff meetings where necessary
- Liaise with Director of Sport to contribute to an annual requisition.
- Support the planning and organisation of Department aspect of special days, festivals, House events etc.
- Maintain good quality display in public areas which relate to pool health and safety
- Support the school’s programme of competitions with other schools
- Be responsible for personal health and safety and know how to report H&S concerns
- Maintain cleanliness and order around the pool area.
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment and report any issues.
- Conduct regular checks of water quality and pool temperature
- Have a working understanding of any key policies related to pool use and safety
- Any other reasonable task assigned by the Principal or Heads of School

Qualifications:
- An up-to date pool lifeguard certificate
- A recognised up-to date first aid certificate
