Job Title: Literacy & Numeracy Intervention Mentor
Location: The Grange Therapeutic School, Knossington, Oakham
Salary: Up to £26,375.00 per annum dependant on experience
Hours: 39.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm (4pm Friday)
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Must be UK based.
As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Literacy & Numeracy Intervention Mentor to join our close-knit team at The Grange Therapeutic School, part of Acorn Education.
About the role
The successful applicant will have to plan, implement and evaluate literacy/numeracy interventions for pupils, reporting to the SENCO. This will be done with individual pupils or small groups. There may also be some group work complete within class groups.
You will need to have (or demonstrate willingness to develop):
- experience of working with pupils and young people
- an understanding of SEN
- ability to quickly build relationships with challenging pupils
- be able to work on your own initiative
- awareness of mental health needs of pupils and young people
This is a challenging role and you must be able to cope with stressful interpersonal situations whilst maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
- To work with the SENCO to identify pupils in need of additional interventions
- To plan, implement and evaluate interventions effectively with pupils. This may involve lone working on and off site
- To advise and report to senior staff
- To deliver training to staff and support initiatives to improve literacy across the school
- Undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using appropriate IT
- To keep up to date with the latest good practice in the field of interventions
- To promote reading across the school
- Participate in school wide activities as appropriate
- To support out of classroom activities as part of a broad and varied curriculum.

In its stunning country setting The Grange day and 38 week residential school offers a holistic therapeutic approach in its teaching and environment.
