Marketing and Communications Assistant

We are looking for a Marketing and Communications Assistant to join the London Thames Maths Hub, based at the Harris Federation head office in Croydon.

London Thames Maths Hub is one of the 40 national Maths Hubs in England, funded by the Department for Education and coordinated by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). The Maths Hub is made up of a partnership of schools, colleges and other organisations, working together to develop and spread excellent practice in mathematics education, for the benefit of all students, teachers and schools in Lambeth, Croydon and Bromley area.

We are passionate about providing support for teachers and schools that can help to improve the mathematics experience and outcomes for learners, from early years to post 16. London Thames Maths Hub benefits from a supportive and driven Maths Hub Leadership and Management Team, the commitment of the Local Leaders of Maths Education and partner schools, colleges and organisations, and the wider support from the NCETM and the national Maths Hub Programme.

This is a fixed-term, part-time, term-time only contract that starts in September 2024 and ends in August 2025. There is also the option to extend the contract until 2027, subject to the availability of Maths Hub funding.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Your role will involve developing, implementing and monitoring a communications and marketing strategy. You will ensure information and news about Maths Hub, including its values and ethos, are effectively promoted using a range of digital and print platforms to teachers and leaders in the London Thames Hub area. You will also liaise with the Maths Hub Leadership and management team, including Local Leaders of Mathematics Education, on planning, monitoring, impact and evaluation of Maths Hub programmes, including visiting schools and promotional events, and oversee administration to ensure that records and data are up to date when needed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We would like to hear from you if you have:

• A good pass in GCSE in Mathematics and English
• Experience of using social media for marketing
• The ability to communicate with internal and external partners
• The ability to plan, monitor and evaluate the impact of projects
• Good IT skills, including a working understanding of Word and Excel as well as experience of website management and design
• The ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and external partners
• Strong verbal and written communication skills along with an excellent eye for detail
• A “can do” attitude and flexibility to support the team with adhoc projects
