Job title : Mathematics and technology teacher (and potentially IB physics)

Grades : Maths/Technology 9th and 10th - Potentially Physics IB DP1 (11th) 

Languages required : French with excellent command of English

Type of position : Part-time - Depending on profile, permanent contract or 10-month fixed-term contract (likely to be converted to permanent contract at end of contract)

Teaching hours : 8h math, 2h30 technology, and potentially 4h30 physics. 

Work location : Lab School Paris - Montreuil Campus

Hiring date : September 2024

Compensation : Competitive, depending on profile and experience


The school is recruiting a part-time teacher with a good knowledge of English to teach math and technology in 9th and 10th grades. Previous experience of teaching a middle or high school class is essential. 

Depending on qualifications and level of English, there is a possibility of increasing the number of hours by adding responsibility for preparing 11th grade IB physics students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma. 


MISSIONS 

Working closely with the other teachers at the school and with the management team, your main mission will be to help implement the Lab School Paris pedagogical project by teaching mathematics and technology to 9th and 10th grade students.


 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach common core skills in math, and prepare 9th grade students for the French "brevet des collèges"
  • Prepare 10th graders for International Baccalaureate requirements
  • Prepare relevant course materials  
  • Participate in interdisciplinary school projects 
  • Develop a relationship of trust with students; work with them to value their successes and progress on a daily basis, and support them in acquiring autonomy through differentiated teaching methods. 
  • Interact with parents and Lab School Network researchers
  • Participate in seminars and team meetings


PROFILE REQUIRED

  • Teacher with good knowledge of school curricula
  • English-speaking or bilingual French-English teacher
  • Taste for teamwork and interest in research
  • Creativity, responsiveness, initiative, openness, team spirit
  • Experience of the International Baccalaureate approach greatly appreciated
  • Experience using digital tools in the classroom
  • At least two years' experience in tutoring a group of students (applications from people with only private tutoring experience will not be considered).
  • Part-time position: approximately 10.5 hours of face-to-face teaching per week; this position may be combined with that of IB physics teacher for an additional 4.5 hours. 
  • Exceptionally, due to administrative delays caused by the Olympic Games, we will only consider candidates who are able to work in France (European passport or work permit in France).
