Over the last 50 years, Capel Manor College has helped thousands of school leavers and adults achieve their dream of working with animals, plants and the environment. As London’s environmental college, the College plays a vital role in the green agenda for the capital, equipping the next generation of land-based sector workers with the skills and knowledge needed to preserve and protect London’s wildlife, national parks and green spaces.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Capel Manor College and we are now seeking to appoint a Mentor, Wellbeing and Enrichment Officer.

The Mentor, Wellbeing and Enrichment Officer is responsible for providing pastoral support to students to support their personal and social development and independence. They will provide pastoral support and undertake general one-to-one sessions, as and when required, monitor student punctuality and attendance and identify and challenge behaviour deemed outside of the student Code of Conduct. They will also act as Safeguarding Officer in the Safeguarding Team, to provide a responsive safeguarding service to students experiencing welfare and safeguarding issues.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people and be able to build a good rapport with students. They should have empathy for young people and the ability to understand and relate to the issues affecting them. They should have some understanding and experience of engaging young people with special educational needs and experience of coaching and mentoring them to overcome barriers and realise their full potential. A good understanding of safeguarding practices is also essential.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work in a supportive, collaborative and beautiful land-based environment.

In order to be considered for the position, an application form must be completed. CVs will not be accepted. For further details and to apply, please visit the job vacancies section on the Capel Manor College website.

Please note that the College does not have a sponsorship licence. We are therefore unable to consider applicants who do not have the right to work in the UK.

We reserve the right to close a position once sufficient suitable applications have been received to form a short list. Early application is therefore encouraged.

What’s in it for you?

We offer the opportunity to help develop your skills and knowledge in a friendly team environment, plus a range of benefits including generous annual leave, a defined benefit pension scheme (Teacher’s Pension Scheme for Lecturing roles and Local Government Pension Scheme for Support roles), employee assistance programme and full access to Capel Manor Gardens.
