Salary: £50,000 to £54,000 per annum (TCES Clinical Band 2 / NHS Band 6/7 equivalent)

Contract: Permanent, Term time + 3 weeks

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to lead a multi-disciplinary therapy team to support our neurodiverse pupils to access education by co-facilitating independence and communication. You will work alongside education staff and therapists of other specialisms to remove barriers to learning and development, modelling therapeutic interventions and supporting our staff team to become seasoned holistic and therapeutic practitioners.

TCES is an independent social enterprise, providing specialist education based in London supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education. 

TCES pupils learn at one of our two schools, Create Learning service or within our Home Learning service; Create Learning and Create Learning Primary support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with TCES East London and TCES North West London supporting those who are able to access learning within a school environment. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main schools, TCES Sixth Form, and mainstream provision.

TCES East London Independent School is an Ofsted Good rated day school specialising in the Arts, with all pupils encouraged to find and express their creativity and supported to achieve awards alongside traditional subjects.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

• Demonstrable success in offering Occupational Therapy services to highly complex and high-risk children with neurodiverse identities, including those with SEMH / ASC, and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns.
• Minimum of 5 years' post qualification experience.
• HCPC Registered
• Ability to plan and organise own workload, working flexibly and creatively.
• Experience of coaching staff to improve their practice.
• High level of experience of multi-disciplinary and inter-agency working.
• Therapeutic Role Model; resilient, dedicated, with a never give up attitude.
