DBIS seeks a passionate and experienced outdoor education coordinator to lead our vibrant and growing extracurricular and sports programmes. The successful candidate will have a strong background in outdoor education and/or physical education and a deep understanding of experiential and engaging learning pedagogies. They will be a skilled leader with a proven track record of developing and delivering educational, engaging and challenging outdoor experiences for students.
DBIS is ideally situated for the development of an outstanding outdoor extracurricular and sports programme. With direct access to stunning natural parks, hiking trails, and local beaches with water sports facilities, the opportunities for outdoor learning and adventure are exceptional. The coordinator will play a key role in maximising these opportunities and creating a programme that caters to the diverse interests and abilities of students across the whole school.
To be considered, it is essential to have:
- Genuine enthusiasm and commitment to the development of the whole child and a love of working with students of all ages;
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree linked to outdoor education and/or outdoor education related certifications.
- Experience in outdoor education practices to effectively integrate classroom learning with hands-on experiences beyond the school campus;
- Evidence of effective leadership of a team;
- Demonstrated expertise in planning and leading engaging outdoor learning experiences;
- Understanding of and commitment to health and safety and safeguarding.
- The ability to inspire students, collaborate with colleagues and parents, and communicate effectively;
- The ability to make decisions based on experience, good judgement and established policies, procedures and guidelines.
It is desirable to have:
- First aid training qualifications/certifications;
- Experience in being able to offer a varied range of outdoor opportunities;
- School teaching experience and/or qualifications;
- Experience working with or within international education;
- Knowledge and experience in assessing student proficiency in an outdoor education setting.
This role offers a two-year renewable contract and a competitive compensation package, with a gratuity of 18.75%, an additional monthly cash allowance, remuneration of school fees for one child and full medical and dental insurance for the employee.
