ACS International Schools are recruiting a Physical Education Teacher to join our Hillingdon campus.

 We are seeking to appoint a committed, driven and inspiring teacher of Physical Education to join our school community from August 2024. 

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will share a passion for developing students who have a lifelong love of physical activity and who possess the knowledge and desire to lead a healthy & active life. This individual will be joining a team that aims to empower every individual to develop personal attributes which will support a happy & meaningful life. 

They will be a flexible team player, excited by the prospect of joining a growing team with the opportunity to shape and develop a Physical Education culture and curriculum. All members of our team are committed to supporting their departmental colleagues and see the value in contributing to the wider life of the department and school through extra-curricular squads, clubs, fixtures and subject planning. 

They will have the ability to coach more than one of our core sports to a high standard, with expertise in Basketball, Volleyball, or Tennis being an advantage, but not an essential requirement.

We are introducing the IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science course in August 2024, the ability to teach this course to future cohorts would be advantageous. 

The successful candidate will have the ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment, whilst using flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students. Commitment to professional development and ongoing learning is essential.

The Department and School:

The Physical Education & Sports Department is a positive and dedicated team, consisting of seven full time members of staff, complemented by a strong team of peripatetic coaches.

The department has some excellent facilities including a large sports hall, three tennis courts, a 4G training pitch and access to Hillingdon Court Park on site. Playing fields, a short drive away consisting of; 3 full size football pitches, 2 full size rugby pitches, 1 baseball field, and 2 softball fields. As well as access to top class local offsite facilities.

 The broad and flexible curriculum at ACS International School Hillingdon is designed to help students excel, ensuring they’re ready for the next stage of their academic career. Underpinned by the International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement courses, AP Capstone Diploma and the US High School Diploma, our curriculum emphasises life skills as much as academic excellence, with a focus on experiential learning and leadership that ensures we nurture confident, caring, well-rounded individuals who are ready for the future.

ACS Hillingdon’s 11-acre campus is less than 14 miles from central London, enabling students to benefit from opportunities in both the city and countryside. Our magnificent Greater London campus has outstanding facilities, and a wealth of history, art and culture right on its doorstep.

Knowledge, skills, and experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree/Bachelor of Education
  • A teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS/Teaching licence/certification or equivalent)
  • 2 or more years of post-qualifying teaching experience to relevant age groups
  • Strong IT skills, preferably with Apple products
  • Demonstrates consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written
  • Significant experience and willingness to integrate technology to improve teaching and learning
  • Experience of teaching in an international school is desirable but not essential.
