Pownall Hall is a ‘magical’ prep school, based within simply beautiful 8-acre leafy grounds in Wilmslow.

Surrounding our 200 year old Grade II Listed Hall, we are very fortunate to enjoy over 8 acres of beautiful grounds, housing an outdoor classroom, a wildlife pond, forest school for outdoor learning, a host of sporting facilities including Astro, sports hall, cricket strip and sports field, plus a state-of-the-art Science lab and our historic 1800’s Boddington Theatre. All of which provide excellent learning opportunities for all ages, from 6 months old to Form 6.

 

Prep School (Years 3 to 6) Mathematics Teacher

 

The principal responsibilities of the role:

 

·      To safeguard and protect the children of Pownall Hall School. Understanding and implementing KCSiE Part One, and all of the policies and procedures of Pownall Hall School.

·      Maintain an overview of the year group/subject(s) curriculum, and that of the key stage curriculum, ensuring a full and balanced programme of study is available to all pupils.

·      To carry out a share of school duties and extra-curricular activities, where appropriate, in accordance with published schedules

·      Monitor and establish continuity of assessment including the regular MER of the teacher led assessment of pupil progress through any method employed for MER of pupils

·      To participate in appropriate meetings, as necessary and required, including INSET

·      To participate in appraisal arrangements and professional development arrangements.

·      To liaise closely with all departments of school through the Head, Deputy Head, Key Stage Coordinators (including Business Manager, School Office, Catering and Support Staff where appropriate) to maintain the effective and smooth running of the academic and pastoral life of the school in order to develop and sustain parent confidence.

·      Together with the Head, Deputy Heads, EY Foundation Stage coordinator, and Key Stage Coordinators, to ensure that the aims and objectives of the school are fully met and that the Mission Statement is met.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

 

·      Proven experience of teaching Mathematics in the Prep classroom (Years 3-6)

·      Honours graduate and teaching qualifications

·      Experience of curriculum subject planning

·      Experience of taking responsibility for the quality of teaching, learning and achievement of your subject/class

·      Ability to maintain excellence and educational achievement for all abilities

·      Knowledge of monitoring, tracking and reporting academic achievement

·      Experience of talking to parents and colleagues about academic life of the pupils

·      Proven track record of excellent Maths teaching

·      Familiarity with Microsoft and Google packages: word, excel, power-point, Outlook, Google classroom etc

·      Teaching of boys’ games would be advantageous but not essential

·      Experience of Senior School entrance examinations and preparation for them at 11+ is also desirable
