Primary School Teacher - New Barn School Horsham

Overview

New Barn School is a special educational needs school, NAS accredited with an Ofsted rated 'Good' that caters for academically able autistic students with associated difficulties, including ADHD and complex needs. The majority of students will have either of statement of special educational needs or an education, health and care plan (EHCP). Our dedicated staff are committed to creating a learning culture that enables the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

We are looking for an additional Primary School Teacher to join our expanding school. The teacher will be teaching KS2 children.

Duties and responsibilities:

•  Plan and teach daily well-structured lessons to assigned classes following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work
•  Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
•  Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils
•  Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
•  Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
•  Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
•  Assists in writing IEP targets and IEMs that are directly linked to group teaching
•  Organise extracurricular trips, visitors and events that provide enrichment opportunities to pupils
•  Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
•  Supports pupils at lunchtime to participate in social/enrichment activities
•  Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils
•  Maintain good order and discipline among pupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
•  Is familiar with pupils’ IEPs and IEM and uses these to inform lesson plans
•  Ensures appropriate risk assessments are undertaken, and parental agreement is received before certain activities/outings
•  Assists in preparation for statutory inspections/School Improvement Partner visits and governor monitoring sessions
•  Take part in the school’s appraisal procedures
•  Take part in further training and development in order to improve own teaching

To be eligible for this position, you are required to have the following:

Hold a QTS

Hold the required university qualifications

Hold Right to Work in the UK

Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
