Job Description

  • We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Primary Teacher to join our team for a position starting in January 2025. 
  • Promote the ‘mission’ and philosophy of the school ensuring that children are working towards being truly bilingual, international citizens.
  • Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting are of the highest quality and meet the varying learning and social needs of students.
  • Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to the school development plans and growth.
  • Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach, and assess effectively.
  • Be able to teach Primary aged children
  • Use the student tracking and monitoring process to advance student learning and enhance professional practice in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities.
  • Take personal responsibility for professional development.
  • Effectively communicate the school’s narrative, being an ambassador for our school at all times.

Required Skills/Abilities

Qualification/Training:

  • Qualified to degree level or above in Primary Teaching plus PGCE/QTS – Essential
  • Experience delivering a Primary curriculum – Essential

Planning and Preparation:

  • Prepare and lead group interventions, track pupil progress in line with the Learning Support Policy, and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Lead after-school Enrichment activities as required.
  • Participate in year group planning meetings when necessary.
  • Attend weekly meetings as required.

Experience:

  • Proven track record with at least two years of teaching experience – Essential
  • Experience being part of a highly successful department and school – Desirable
  • Good classroom practice and interpersonal skills – Essential
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and adapt the curriculum to engage children and help them reach their potential – Essential
  • Experience working in partnership with parents – Essential

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – Essential
  • Ability to teach different age ranges and English proficiency levels – Essential
  • Ability to engage children and help them perform at a high level – Essential
  • Familiarity with iSAMS – Desirable
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development – Desirable
  • Confident global citizen or willingness to become one – Desirable
  • Understanding of the complex and demanding environment of an international school community – Desirable

  • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
  • Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.

About The British International School Bratislava

The British International School Bratislava is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational all-through independent school with sixth form in Slovakia, serving students from the age of 2-18. The all-through school is situated in Bratislava. 

The British International School Bratislava opened in 1997 and welcomes students from over 42 nationalities every year. Students follow an international curriculum, studying towards IGCSE exams and later an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Facilities include a dance studio, gym, a theatre, science laboratories, outdoor play areas and sports courts. Pupils are taught in English and offered Slovak language lessons.
