PRINCIPAL

Great Schools Trust / Kings Leadership Academy Hawthornes

Start Date: January 2025

Salary: In line with experience

Closing Date: Monday 23 September 2024

The Great Schools Trust is seeking a Principal for Kings Leadership Academy Hawthornes in Sefton, Merseyside.

We are seeking a leader who is collegiate in style, has presence, gravitas and integrity and someone who is committed to the continued development of a values-led, inclusive 11-16 environment focussed on enhancing the long-term social mobility of its students.

King's Leadership Academy Hawthornes was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted approximately twelve months ago and the new Principal will hold a clear vision on how to maintain these standards, whilst working with the wider Trust team on a quest for outstanding outcomes for all students. S/he will also have the opportunity to further shape the senior leadership team to meet the emerging needs of the school and the community which it serves. We wish to appoint a dynamic and talented colleague who has the inspirational and organisational qualities to successfully take the Academy forward whilst preserving, and further developing, the beliefs, values, mission, culture and community focus of the Great Schools’ educational model.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a welcoming, inclusive school which is at the heart of its community. The successful applicant will find this role both challenging and fulfilling as the Trust continues to expand. As Principal, you will be expected to build relationships within the region seeking civic partnership opportunities to deliver excellence and security to young people, their families and the wider community.

Applications are welcome from ambitious Deputy Headteachers, experienced Heads and/or colleagues in a Multi-Academy Trust. We will appoint the successful candidate by evaluating how their values align with our Mission, considering their proven track record of success in education and how they interact with our colleagues during the interview process. The Trust will strive to ensure that this post is the right one for you, with real prospects of professional development, career enhancement and personal satisfaction.

The Principal will be a member of the wider Trust Leadership Team whose remit is to further develop the Great Schools Trust’s educational model, share good practice and collaborate on cross-trust projects. The Great Schools Trust is forward-thinking and innovative. We no longer conduct annual appraisals/performance management and instead engage in coaching and leadership development. The School week finishes at lunchtime on Friday with an afternoon programme of CPD and training for all staff. We are innovators in AI and are heavily engaged in ITE through our Institute of Character and Leadership (IoCL). This is an exciting time to join our Trust!

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the school on Monday 16 September at 1.30pm to meet members of the Trust Executive Team. There is also an evening webinar on Thursday 19 September with our CEO and Directors of Education which interested candidates are welcome to attend. To request either/both opportunities, please contact recruitment@greatschoolstrust.com

Submitting your application

Applicants should submit an application form and a covering letter of application which fully addresses the competencies outlined in the job description and person specification.

Completed applications should be sent to the trust’s HR Business Partner, Dominique Stead at: recruitment@greatschoolstrust.com

Closing Date for Applications: Monday 23 September at 9am.

Candidates will be contacted on Tuesday 24 September to confirm if they have been shortlisted. Interviews are likely to take place on Friday 27 September at the school. In the interests of workload and well-being, there will not be significant preparation expected prior to interview.
