Job Title:        Psychotherapist

Location:        Oak Tree School and Red Moor School, Cornwall, South West 

Salary:            Up to £46,800 full time equivalent, dependent on experience.

                 Actual salary £41,940, dependent on experience. 

Hours:           37.5 hours per week, 8.30am-4.30pm

Contract:        Permanent, Term Time only, 41 weeks

Essential:       Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Psychotherapist to join our Clinical Team, working as a key integrated member of our clinical and education team across our Cornwall Schools, Oak Tree School, Threeemilestone and Red Moor School based in Lanlivery. 

In this exciting role, you will work collaboratively to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for pupils with complex communication needs, autism and associated learning and emotional needs.

You will implement a holistic, therapeutic approach to helping our pupils in their daily lives, ensuring they are safe, comfortable and healthy. Undertaking all aspects of Psychotherapy clinical duties, you will adhere to professional and regulatory guidelines, carrying out specialist individual assessments and interventions, and preparing relevant documentation, including writing reports. A significant element of this role will be working alongside the onsite clinical team to continue to develop the clinical service provision for the school include providing support and training to staff and parents.

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognised qualification e.g. Masters Degree in Psychotherapy and registered with appropriate professional body
  • Minimum of Level 7 qualification or Level 5 qualification plus adequate and relevant experience 
  • Clear and concise report writing relating to clinical and research activities
  • BABCP or NCPC registered, plus HCPC where applicable
  • Experience of working with children and young people with additional needs (e.g., complex trauma, neurodevelopmental differences, mental health needs)
  • Ability to work independently as agreed under supervision
  • Experience of multi-professional work teams or services within designated speciality
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the setting
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to a car

Oak Tree School Cornwall is a Special School positioned near the City of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 65 children and young people aged 7 to 16 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These children and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.
