Job overview
ICS Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary School Counselor to join our team. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive counseling program that addresses the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of our primary school students. The counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a supportive and nurturing school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Individual Counseling:
- Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to students to address emotional, social, and academic concerns.
- Develop and implement individualized plans to support student well-being and academic success.
2. Group Counseling:
- Facilitate small group counseling sessions on topics such as social skills, coping strategies, and conflict resolution.
- Create and deliver workshops and programs to support student development.
3. Classroom Guidance:
- Collaborate with teachers to design and deliver classroom guidance lessons that promote social-emotional learning.
- Address topics such as bullying prevention, self-esteem, and stress management.
4. Crisis Intervention:
- Provide immediate support and intervention for students experiencing crises.
- Work with school staff and parents to develop safety and support plans as needed.
5. Consultation and Collaboration:
- Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators to address student needs and develop effective strategies for support.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
6. Program Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that aligns with the school’s mission and goals.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the counseling program and make data-driven decisions to improve services.
7. Professional Development:
- Stay current with best practices in school counseling and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a Master's Degree in School Counseling or a Bachelor's Degree in School Counseling with at least 2 years of experience in school counseling.
- Experience in an International British National Curriculum School or a UK school is desirable.
- Strong understanding of child development, learning principles, and counseling techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administrators.
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

We are a popular English Curriculum School centrally located in the heart of Abu Dhabi. Branch 4 began in August 2019 as a Primary school and are slowly expanding into a through school, adding Secondary year groups one year at a time. Year 11 will be added in August 2024 and will be the first cohort to start working towards IGCSE qualifications. We are co-educational and students are in mixed-gender classes.

About ICS Khalidiya
International Community Schools - ICS Khalidiya Campus started operating in the Academic year of 2019/2020. We follow the English National Curriculum from Early Years Foundation stage. We are based in the heart of Abu Dhabi in Khalidiya area and have pupils from a wide range of countries including UAE, Arabia, Europe and the Americas.
The school has been open since September 2019. We are part of a growing family of ICS schools. Khalidiya is the third branch of ICS to open in Abu Dhabi and we are excited to be a part of a continuously growing family of schools.
Our English Curriculum teachers are all fluent English speakers and come from a range of countries including England, Ireland, America, Lebanon, and South Africa. These teachers teach the core subjects of Mathematics, English and Science. We also have English speaking teachers for our other English Curriculum subjects ICT, Music, Art, PE, and French. We follow the Ministry of Education’s Curriculum for Arabic, Islamic Studies and Arabic Social Studies. These subjects are taught by our Arabic speaking staff.
