Are you an inspirational and enthusiastic leader who wants to become our Head of Science, someone who has a passion for science and a commitment to ensuring that staff and students share the importance of science in the 21st Century?

The successful candidate will be a member of our Extended Senior Leadership Team in a rapidly expanding Academy and will play an instrumental part in being at the forefront of change as we strive to be outstanding in all areas.

Do you have what it takes to lead and inspire a great team; to create the next generation of young scientists; and the ability to drive forward that vision for the faculty, across the Academy and beyond?

You will play a vital role in raising standards in Science, in the further development of teachers, curriculum delivery and working towards outstanding practice, consistency and excellence within this faculty area.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding classroom practitioner and leader who is an enthusiastic, innovative and engaging leader of Science. The Science Faculty offers a wide programme of options at Key Stage 4 and 5 including AQA Trilogy Combined Science, AQA Separate Sciences (a popular option choice for approx. 60-70 students each year), BTEC Level 3 Science and the three separate A Levels. 

The Science Faculty is comprised of a large team of experienced teachers and middle leaders, including an Assistant Head of Faculty, Key Stage Leaders, Lead Practitioner and Lead Teacher in Science who offer a wealth of support and professional advice to staff at all levels, and teaching assistants and technicians who support the delivery of the curriculum. There are 13 specialist laboratories for practical lessons as well as access to computer rooms for vocational coursework.

  •  We would consider a substantial package for a candidate who may have to re-locate. 


You will:

  •  be an outstanding teacher with a proven record of raising achievement in science with consistent impact on teaching, learning and progress and attainment in science.
  •  have experience of teaching all three disciplines, biology, chemistry and/or physics at least at GCSE, either Combined and/or Single Science.
  • an ability to teach A Level Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and/or BTEC L3 is highly desirable.
  • be able to support in the development of the curriculum, teaching, learning and staff development
  • be a successful, highly organised leader with at least five years’ experience in school leadership.
  • have significant experience of coaching, observing teachers, giving feedback to staff and training staff in teaching and learning.
  • be positive, enthusiastic and resilient and an effective team member.
  •  have a clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding and equal opportunities.
