If you are passionate about animal welfare and possess experience of handling a variety of animals, King George V College presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Animal Management Technician to join our team.
In this role, you will provide outstanding technical support for animal welfare to the Animal Management curriculum team in the delivery and recording of practical work and in supervising students. Our college animal collection includes mammals, invertebrates, and reptiles, requiring confidence in handling these species.
As well as supporting teaching staff, duties will include:
- Proactively managing all aspects of the care and management of the College's animal collection, including cleaning, feeding and waste disposal.
- Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on animal exhibits and holding areas to ensure animal health, welfare, and the presentation of naturalistic environments.
- Researching, designing, implementing and evaluating a variety of objects and processes to provide mental and physical stimulation and encourage natural behaviour patterns in our animals.
About you
The ideal candidate should possess an advanced qualification (level 3 or above) in an animal or biological science-related subject. They should also have practical experience working with a variety of animals in commercial or educational environments. Additionally, the successful candidate should demonstrate high standards in animal management and show effective handling skills with diverse species.
