Position Overview:
The Senior School Principal will be serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and long-term development of the Senior School, from Grades 10-12 (MYP 5 and DP years). The Principal is expected to take responsibility for the supervision of the Senior School faculty and the students. Communication with parents and community members is an essential component of the position.
Reporting to the Head of School, this role will commence August 1, 2025.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Maintain responsibility for the overall quality of the academic programme and foster commitment to high standards of teaching and learning;
- Ensure the continuous development of the Senior School in keeping with overall School strategic priorities;
- Ensure the curriculum prepares Senior School students with the key skills and competencies for success in post-secondary studies;
- Support the Diploma Programme Coordinator, Heads of Department and counsellors, ensuring clear lines of communication;
- Foster and promote a strong commitment to the IB programme amongst faculty, students and families;
- Cultivate a Senior School environment of belonging and inclusion with a strong sense of school spirit;
- Ensure all Ministerial and regulatory requirements are met in the Senior School;
- Oversee the daily supervision of students, cultivating a warm, caring and safe environment;
- Manage effective communication with parents;
- Lead or facilitate parent information sessions related to the Senior School;
- Ensure that the conduct of students conforms with the Code of Conduct;
- Provide an advisory role for teachers requiring assistance regarding student achievement and behavior;
- Demonstrate ongoing commitment to personal professional growth and the professional growth of faculty;
- Lead and oversee all processes related to reporting, scheduling and teacher assignments;
- Support the Academic Registrar in their duties;
- Oversee the learning support provisions in the Senior School;
- Lead Senior School assemblies and faculty meetings.
Administration
- Execute strategic priorities in the Senior School;
- Play a leading role in the recruitment, hiring and retention of teaching faculty;
- Participate in and support the admissions process for Senior School students;
- Ensure that budgets in the Senior School are appropriately managed;
- Retain an overview of all School activities involving Senior School teachers and students;
- Actively contribute to the School Leadership Team;
- Attend School events in and out of regular school hours, including weekends.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s of Education required, in Administration and Leadership preferred;
- Current relevant leadership experience in an IB DP school required;
- Experience in teaching within Independent Schools;
- Experience as an IB site leader, examiner, and/or workshop leader preferred;
- Participation in the advanced level IB training programme preferred;
- Extensive teaching experience of at least 10 years across a multitude of grade levels;
- Progressive experience that is rich in curriculum leadership, including experience as a Curriculum Coordinator and/or Head of Department;
- Experience working collaboratively with Curriculum Coordinators in an IB continuum school (PYP, MYP and/or DP);
- Experience working in a technology-rich programme;
- Valid BC Teaching Certificate or Independent School Teaching Certificate Number.
Salary & Benefits
- $155,000 - $170,000 depending on qualifications and experience
