Salary: Ark Support Scale 7 point 14-24, £31,840- £37,306 FTE. Pro rata salary £27,387 - £32,089

 

The Role

As a Sixth Form Study Room supervisor and administrator, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, giving instructions for the lesson and ensuring good order is maintained and all pupils are kept on task. You will be instrumental in our mission to provide every student, regardless of their background, a great education and real choices in life.


Key Responsibilities: Study Room supervision

·         Communicate, distribute and supervise work that has been set by the teacher

·         Manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they work to ensure a constructive environment

·         Collect any completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher

·         Report back to the teacher as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising

·         Organise detention duty and supervise detentions as required

·        Promote the inclusion of all pupils within the classroom, being aware of and supporting difference, to ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop

·         Liaise with Heads of subject to provide support for the department when cover is not required

·         To assist in the evaluation of the impact of covered lessons on pupils and throughout the school

·         To assist in the creation and maintenance of curriculum resources and creation of visual displays in order to ensure a relevant physical learning environment.

·         Make appropriate use of equipment and resources, including ICT

·         Provide general clerical/administrative support, e.g. input and retrieval of data into computerised and manual systems, taking registers, etc. as required

·     Accompany staff and pupils on educational visits, trips and out of school activities as required and take responsibility for a group under the direction of the teacher / organiser

Our curriculum

Our purpose as a school is to ensure our young people can go out into the world and live a life of choice and opportunity. We want them to leave Ark Acton having been inducted into systems of worthwhile knowledge that enable them to participate in and shape the national discourse.

In order to achieve this vision for our young people, we place the curriculum at the heart of school life. It drives all other decisions that we make and is the best means we have of demonstrating as a school what we believe in and what we stand for. In essence our curriculum is designed to ensure that all pupils at Acton acquire disciplinary knowledge that they cannot learn at home and that this specified curriculum knowledge is based on the most coherent and tested ways of conceptualising the world that we have.

Alongside our taught academic curriculum we run our co-curricular programme. This programme provides experiences and opportunities for all students to participate in individual and group activities that help them develop essential life skills. Debating and oracy sits at the heart of this model as we aim to enable all our students to develop confidence, articulacy and team-working skills.
