Job overview
We are seeking to employ seven Sports Interns for the 2025-2026 Academic Year to contribute to our sports, physical education, and boarding programs. An Intern placement year in the sports department of Millfield Prep School will provide an unrivalled opportunity to work at one of the UK’s leading Prep Schools.
Millfield Prep School (MPS) is an independent co-educational school with outstanding sports facilities and situated by the famous Glastonbury Tor. There are 400 children ranging in age from 2 – 13yrs, with about a third of these children boarding. We have outstanding facilities and a vibrant multisport environment.
Sports Interns will have the opportunity to develop some of the knowledge and skills gained previously either from schooling or from an Undergraduate degree. Successful candidates should be confident, reliable and have good interpersonal skills as well as showing a willingness to be involved in all areas of school life.
We are seeking interns to be involved in coaching sports teams, assisting during Physical Education lessons, and contributing to the athletic development of our talented sports players. Interns also have an option of getting involved with other areas of the school. For example, the Pre-Prep Department, boarding, or any academic department which would be beneficial to students wishing to pursue a PGCE or undergraduate studies.
The posts run for a full academic year from September through June, with breaks for School holidays. Remuneration is £14,359.77 per annum, (inclusive of statutory holiday pay) plus board and lodging during term time (non-monetary, to the value of £3,006.99 per annum) and a contribution towards professional development (e.g. coaching course). In addition to contributing to the above areas, interns will gain experience in boarding houses and help supervise recreation times.
Candidates should either be enrolled in or recently graduated from Sports Science, Sports Coaching, or similar degrees. Applicants will have participated regularly to a good standard and ideally hold coaching qualifications in relevant activities.
