Student Progress Leader- Grand Cayman

Salary Range: CI$73, 416- CI$96,336 per annum

The Student Progress Leader is a key leadership role in the school responsible for supporting students to improve their learning through a range of strategies including, but not limited to;

  • Promoting positive attitudes to learning (ATL) and consistency with the school teaching and learning and behaviour policy.
  • Monitoring the academic progress of individual students and groups of students to ensure expected progress.
  • Identifying underachievement in students and brokering appropriate interventions.
  • Providing leadership in the development, management and support of any necessary learning or behaviour interventions in the year group.

As part of the leadership team, the SPL is also responsible, under the guidance of the Deputy Principal, for leading a team of 10-12 Teachers who are also tutors within the year group who ensure the care, support and well- being of students.

*Required qualifications and experience include the following: 

  • A qualified teacher, with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject from a recognized institution
  • Formal teacher training/qualification as specified in the Department of Education Services policy on Teacher Qualifications.
  • Prior experience in managing people and school project teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as a teacher with a demonstrated track record of successful teaching and learning, working with students and colleagues from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Experience of working with teachers in a supportive, developmental or training capacity
  • Prior experience teaching in a student-centred learning environment with an emphasis on differentiation for individual abilities and the use of assessment to inform planning.
  • As an exemplary teacher the post holder must be able to identify, monitor and develop effective strategies to remove barriers to student learning.
  • Effective management skills, with the ability to lead by example
  • Effective mentoring and coaching skills to improve student progress and teachers’ practice
  • Effective behaviour management skills and the ability to resolve conflict
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to students, parents, colleagues, and other education stakeholders

The remuneration package for the successful candidate is offered without deductions. The Cayman Islands Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and 100% health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents.
