  • Number on roll: approx. 2,200 (including 500 sixth form)

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, committed and experienced administrator with a warm, friendly and professional approach. As a key point of contact with parents, students and staff, you will enjoy interacting with all members of our community. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, contributing to a welcoming and supportive environment, dealing with all enquiries effectively and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

The ideal candidate will hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to train.

As young people get only 950 days of secondary education, the securing of excellent attendance is a crucial first step to the best possible progress and attainment. The successful post holder will, therefore, be a highly motivated individual who combines energy and enthusiasm with a very systematic approach to work and impressive inter-personal skills.

The postholder works from the Student Services administrative office alongside the Student Services Secretary and Admissions Officer. This office acts as the reception point for students arriving to see the Heads of House and Student Managers, who work from the adjacent open-plan space.

The person appointed to this post will need to combine a calm approach with a desire to take personal initiative and think quickly when the situation requires it. The successful post holder will also display the ability to ensure accuracy in records and data, secure the engagement of staff with attendance procedures and promote improvements that will bring benefits to our students.

We endeavour to preserve a happy and caring environment that is rooted in our core values, and in which staff and students can flourish, whilst challenging ourselves to pursue excellence for all our students. The school is set in extensive grounds, ideally positioned between the thriving city of Manchester and the open countryside of the Peak District.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to respect this commitment. A consideration of the person’s suitability to work alongside children is part of the selection process.

If invited for an interview, you will be:

  • asked to complete a self-declaration form answering questions in relation to any criminal record or other information that would make them unsuitable to work with children.
  • subject to an online search. This is to help identify any incidents or issues that have happened, and are publicly available online, which we may wish to explore at interview.

If successful, you will be subject to:

  • an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
  • pre-employment checks which will include References, Health, Right to Work in UK, DBS and a Declaration that neither they nor anyone who lives in the same household is a disqualified person under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009.

Current or previous employers will be contacted, and information requested will include:

  • disciplinary offences relating to children, including any for which the penalty is ‘time expired’.
  • whether the applicant has been the subject of any child protection concerns.

Student numbers have increased with more and more students from outside the town and from the independent sector of education seeking places. As the only state secondary school in the town. It enjoys good relationships with the partner primary schools in Wilmslow, Handforth and Alderley Edge, from where the majority of our students come

Location

Wilmslow, a pleasant commuter town with a population of about 32,000, is situated on the southern outskirts of Manchester. It is within easy reach of attractive countryside both locally and in the nearby Peak District. The town is well served by the motorway network and by rail; Manchester Airport is nearby. A wide variety of housing is available in south Manchester, Wilmslow, Macclesfield and the surrounding Cheshire countryside. The town is mixed socially, with many areas of affluence and some communities of relative social deprivation.
