Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to work as our designated Student Support Officer here at KAA.

The Role

Our academy is a vibrant and exciting place to work and you will be fulfilling an important role within our support staff structure in providing day to day first line student support services, including first aid provision. At the core, you will be responsible for triaging students requiring support during the school day, either with time out from lessons where needed, making calls home, or providing medical support (e.g., the delivery of assessment and treatment of minor illness and injury or administering medication for students with ongoing medical needs).

Whilst having first aid training is desirable, it is not essential as this training can be provided during induction. The ideal candidate will have a caring and friendly persona, and have the ability to act professionally and appropriately in challenging situations. The candidate should be a talented administrator (confident at writing coherent and concise written communication to all stakeholders) and be confident at improving systems and processes for the benefit of the students here at KAA. Previous school experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Application process

The deadline for applications is 12pm Friday 19th July 2024. Candidates can apply here or download our application form on our website and email it through to recruitment@kaa.org.uk

If you have any questions about the role and / or application please contact our HR Manager Shola Ope via email (recruitment@kaa.org.uk) who can provide some further advice.

About Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA)

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.

KAA has grown to become one of the top academies in the UK. Our Ofsted report grades us outstanding in all categories and describes standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 we were awarded TES Secondary School of the Year, and our 2022 Good Schools Guide review praises the “phenomenal” education students receive.

Why work for KAA?

Making a real difference

KAA pursues the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all children can achieve good results, irrespective of their prior attainment or experiences. 60% of our students qualify for the Pupil Premium, but with our help they can overcome the barriers that relative poverty can create. Our ethos, spirit and commitment to ever-extending student achievement make KAA an incredible place to work and learn.

Unrivalled professional development

KAA is a high-performing environment where staff at all levels feel challenged and supported to achieve their professional goals. As you will see in our Ofsted report, CPD in our school is of an “exceptional” standard and is an ongoing focus for all staff. There are few better places to develop your skills as a teacher than here with us in Kensington.

Being valued

We invest in our staff and offer unique benefits, including: 180 school days (as opposed to the 190 other schools have); 15 training days (as opposed to 5); free breakfast and lunch for all staff everyday; a two-week half term in October; free staff exercise and well-being sessions, and much more.
