About this Role

The Deepings School is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive school at the heart of The Deepings, a vibrant, growing community in South Lincolnshire. We have high expectations of our students during the seven years that the majority of them are part of our school family. We have equally high expectations of all parents/carers and members of staff, and we know that you have high expectations of us too. At The Deepings School, we place great emphasis on partnership and co-operation between parents, students, and staff to ensure each child receives the best possible education.

Our culture of care and positive relationships provides students with the confidence and independence they need to succeed both inside and outside school. We are also committed to ensuring that our students are positive leaders, strong problem-solvers, and develop the life-skills required to prepare them for life after school.

We are currently looking for a Student Support Officer to join our team.

Main Purpose

  • To provide support and guidance to students struggling to manage their behaviour effectively.
  • To mentor individual students and work proactively across the school, in order to minimise low-level disruptive behaviour in lessons.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support students with challenging behaviour in lessons and around the school.
  • Support staff in dealing with challenging behaviour in classrooms.
  • Mentor a specified group of students.
  • Identify new ways to support students, for example through off-site activities.
  • Support the running of the RAISE and RESET Rooms and support the “On Call” provision throughout the learning day.
  • Monitor, develop and implement appropriate resources for RAISE and RESET.
  • As a member of the Student Support Team, collaborate with other Student Support Officers.
  • Ensure the implementation of the Behaviour Policy across the school, ensuring consistency and providing support to colleagues where required.
  • Assist the Student Support Manager in providing daily reports to the Deputy Headteacher with responsibility for Inclusion and Safeguarding.
  • Carry out other appropriate duties identified by the Line Manager, for example leading a tutor group.
