Job overview

We are looking for a Study Support Coach who will be working in our busy trades department, teaching our 16-19 students the Life Skills Curriculum. This curriculum has been developed and planned to prepare students for their future lives and covers subjects such as money skills and budgeting, CVs and job applications and developing STEM 7 skills.

The candidate will also run intervention sessions with classes to support our students in achieving their academic targets and providing support so all students enjoy and achieve their best possible grade. 

What You Will Do

  • To be responsible for delivery of our Life Skills Curriculum and lead on intervention sessions for students who require coaching as part of their planned learning programme.
  • To identify where students require an intervention and convene small groups of students to work on a specific topic related to their course.
  • Support the increasing use of technology for independent/online learning whilst maintaining the quality of the learning experience.
  • To identify barriers to learning and implement a range of strategies to overcome barriers with students.

About You

  • English and Maths qualification at L2 with a commitment to achieving L3 within 2 years of appointment if not already achieved.
  • Demonstrates significant experience or knowledge of how to work successfully with different groups of students enrolled to vocational courses where English and maths is an integral part of the study programme.
  • Good working knowledge of the use of new technologies and platforms to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to innovate and enthuse learners to succeed in their learning.
