About the school
Crosfields School is a day, co-educational Independent School with some 700 pupils in the age range 3-16 years.
The School is located on a 42-acre site on the outskirts of Reading near Shinfield. The School consists of a number of purpose built buildings in a campus style, including teaching blocks, nursery, theatre, dining hall and sports centre with pool and sports hall.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- We are seeking teachers at all levels and disciplines to join our bank of supply teachers.
- Contracts maybe a few days to longer absence cover.
- Assist in the development of appropriate lessons, resources, schemes of work and teaching strategies in the subject area.
- Attend all appropriate meetings.
- Plan and prepare lessons by using/adapting resources currently available in the department as well as creating and sharing your own.
- Provide students with constructive feedback on their progress, achievement, and attainment with classwork and prep according department guidelines.
- Assess and track the development, progress, and attainment of students.
- Reflect on feedback given and use assessment information to deliver lessons that meet student needs in terms of challenge, relevance, continuity, and progression. Report regularly on student progress and attainment to parents, students, and other staff.
- Teach students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the student.
- Ensure that any other adults who assist in lessons are fully briefed on curriculum planning and are deployed effectively in order to maximise student progress.
- Carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with school policies, procedures and statutory health and safety requirements.
- Continue personal development in the relevant areas including subject knowledge and teaching methods.
- To engage actively in the Performance Management Review process.
- Evaluate teaching and strive to maintain and improve quality.
- Communicate effectively with the parents as appropriate.
- Where appropriate, to communicate, and co-operate with persons or bodies outside the school.
- Promote the general progress and well-being of individual students and of the form tutor group as a whole.
- Ensure the implementation of the school’s Pastoral System. Register students, accompany them to collects, encourage their full attendance at all lessons and their participation in other aspects of school life.
- Apply the Behaviour Management systems so that effective learning can take place.
- Comply with all school policies.
- Engage with research and/or literature around teaching and learning and to implement this in lessons.
- Ensure that accurate and up-to-date records of student progress are kept within the department.
- To utilise ICT as an effective tool to aid teaching and other classroom resources as appropriate. Adhere to the National Standards for Teachers
About you
Qualifications and Experience
- The candidate will be expected to hold a good honours degree in a relevant subject
- Candidates with QTS/NQT are encouraged to apply
- Successful teaching experience (can be teaching practice)

- Understanding of theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of National curriculum requirements at appropriate KS

About Crosfields School
Crosfields School is a co-educational, independent day school for pupils aged 3 to 16. Located near Reading, Berkshire, it accommodates approximately 625 pupils.
Founded in 1957, the school is now run as a charitable trust under a single governing body. In 2021 the school created two distinct areas, the Junior School which encompasses all year groups from Nursery to Year 6, and the Senior School for Years 7 to 11. New for the 2021/22 academic year is a brand new Senior School building which provides an excellent setting for older students as the school extends to 16 and it will enjoy its first cohort of GCSE students in 2023.

Vision and values
First and foremost, the school aims to create an environment where every child is safe, happy and supported. It strives to offer a curriculum that is varied enough to allow every unique individual to discover their talents. Teachers encourage children to put in the effort and be resilient. They hope to give pupils the ability to be independent thinkers who challenge and enquire.
Numeracy and ICT skills are especially good at this school, along with reading. Creative subjects such as design and technology and art are another focus. The curriculum as a whole gives pupils experience in linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological and social areas, as well as physical education. Extra-curricular activities range from golf and fencing to Forest School and chess. School trips are also organised to broaden pupils’ horizons.
