Are you passionate about teaching swimming and looking to join a dedicated, small team of instructors at one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the Cotswolds? Our private swim academy is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Swim Teachers to join us in helpful children learn to swim, using the Swim England Stage Curriculum. We are looking to recruit to our Saturday morning programme and Wednesday lunchtime classes. On application, please indicate which role you are interested in.

Saturday Morning Requirements:

  • 9am - 1pm
  • Hold a valid Level 2 Swim England or equivalent Swimming Teaching Qualification

Toddler and Pre-school Swim Teacher:

  • Wednesday Lunchtimes: 12pm - 2pm
  • SEQ Level 2 Swim Teacher or STA equivalent
  • SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming to Babies and Toddler Qualification or STA Baby and Pre-School Swimming.


Both roles have possibility of additional hours on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and are 0 hour contracts.

As a Swimming Teacher, you will be responsible for leading swimming lessons for children of various ages and abilities, following the Swim England Stage framework. You will work as part of a small, close-knit team of instructors to ensure that every child receives high-quality, engaging, and supportive lessons. You will help foster a love for swimming while ensuring a safe and fun environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured swimming lessons for children, following the Swim England Stage Curriculum
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback to students, helping them progress at their own pace
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment at all times
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding progress and development.
  • Work collaboratively with the rest of the swim academy team to ensure consistency and excellence in teaching


Person Specification:

  • A qualified swim instructor with relevant certifications (Swim England Level 2 or ASA equivalent essential)
  • Passionate about teaching children and helping them develop their swimming skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with both children and parents
  • Be able to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Holding a valid NPLQ or NRASTC qualification is desirable, training can be provided once in post if not attained
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Other sports coaching qualifications are desirable Rookie Lifeguard Instructor is desirable, not essential.

Founded in 1928, Westonbirt School is a secondary school with a sixth form for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18. There are currently around 500 pupils enrolled at the school. It is situated on 210 acres of land in Tetbury, Gloucestershire. The school has a thriving boarding community. Pupil numbers have grown rapidly since the transition to full co-education in September 2019. A whole site development masterplan is in place which has seen significant investment in new teaching spaces, boarding accommodation, sports facilities and infrastructure.
