Teacher - British Sign Language (BSL)

Leeds City College are recruiting for a British Sign Language (BSL) Teacher to join our team based at our Enfield Campus (LS7 1RG).

The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in BSL, along with a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and communicative environment for all learners.

This role is part time, teaching two evenings per week, 5.30pm to 8.30pm, but is open for discussion based on the successful candidate’s requirements. 

What You Will Do

• Deliver high-quality BSL instruction to individuals and groups of varying proficiency levels.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of diverse learners.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their language acquisition.
• Promote awareness and understanding of Deaf culture within the community.

About You

• Experience of Awards and Certificates at Level 1 and Level 2 in BSL.
• Advanced certification in BSL (minimum Level 3, preferably Level 6 or equivalent).
• Proven experience in teaching BSL, with a track record of successful student outcomes.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for advocacy and support of the Deaf community.
