Salary Range: CI$57,192- CI$74,772 per annum

The Teacher for English as a Second Language will provide a stimulating and active learning environment that promotes their physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, cultural, creative and moral development and maximizes the achievement of all students with English as a Second language by coordinating and delivering direct interventions for these students across the compulsory school age. The post holder works under the general direction of the Lead Specialist Teacher and is a part of the school based multi-disciplinary team. Teacher for English as a Second Language Works as a specialist teacher within the Student Services Team to provide specialized interventions and teaching for children for whom English is a second language.

*Required qualifications and experience include the following: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject from a recognized institution
  • Formal teacher training/qualification as specified in the Department of Education Services policy on Teacher Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years’, post qualification teaching experience, as a trained teacher with additional specialism in teaching English as a Second Language as evidenced ordinarily by additional qualifications in this field.
  • Prior experience of teaching in a child-centred learning environment with an emphasis on an activity-based approach with differentiation for individual abilities is essential.
  • Be able to articulate clearly, communicate both orally and in written form to parents, students, lay people, educators and other professionals
  • The post-holder must be able to transport testing and teaching materials between schools so a valid driver’s license would be an advantage.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, organizational skills and patience when dealing with differing abilities and cultures

The remuneration package for the successful candidate is offered without deductions. The Cayman Islands Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and 100% health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents.
