This job description should be read with the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document, which applies to the post holder. The duties will be performed under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher, with attention to workload and support. The job description will be reviewed annually through the Performance Development process.

General Duties

Teachers are expected to carry out the professional duties as per the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

Teaching Duties

• The post holder will teach across the full age and ability range from KS3 to KS5.

• The post holder will take responsibility for a tutor group.

Teachers must demonstrate the following:

• Set high expectations to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.

• Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils.

• Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge.

• Plan and teach well-structured lessons.

• Adapt teaching to the strengths and needs of all pupils.

• Make productive use of assessment.

• Manage behaviour effectively.

• Fulfil wider professional responsibilities.

Current Specific Teaching Responsibilities:

• Teaching English across the age and ability range from KS3 to A Level.

Contribution to the Development of English:

• Contribute to departmental schemes of work and resources.

• Support extra-curricular initiatives and events to promote English within the school and external partnerships (e.g. OCL and Acer Trust).

Student Welfare and Development:

• Take responsibility for a tutor group.

General Responsibilities:

• Follow school and department policies and procedures.

• Engage in professional development and performance reviews.

• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students.

• Comply with health and safety responsibilities, taking reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others.
