The Role

Required for a January 2025 start, we are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, highly motivated & enthusiastic Teacher of Geography on a fixed term basis until 31 August 2025. The successful candidate will deliver outstanding teaching and learning in this key subject area across the key stages and will be committed to raising attainment and utilising new independent learning strategies. There is the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and teach a small number of KS3 History or RE lessons within their timetable.

The Academy/Trust

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED – December 2019), conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links.

The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018. This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion. The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

Our new colleague will also benefit from being part of Ormiston Academies Trust, a MAT of 43 primary and secondary academies. The Trust’s vision is for all young people to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential. OAT support all staff so that they can enhance and develop their professional skills whatever their role within the trust. We are looking for an individual who:

·       Is a committed and motivated teacher of Geography, with a clear vision to develop this subject area within our Academy;

·       Is an enthusiastic and experienced teacher/ strong ECT, with effective strategies to take the department and its students to the highest levels of achievement;

·       Is a dynamic and creative classroom practitioner who can engage learners raising achievement for all;

·       Is an enthusiast who will promote Geography and the humanities, who can make it relevant and engaging for all our students;

·       Is able to offer strategic input to improve learning and attainment within the department.
