Cognita operates more than 100 schools around the world and is expanding in Switzerland. As part of this expansion, we are looking for a:

Teacher of German (Secondary & Primary) 60%

Start Date: 1 August 2024

Location: International School Zurich North (ISZN), 8304 Wallisellen

Purpose:

To teach German across the Primary and Secondary divisions, fostering a love for language learning and aligning with the high educational standards of ISZN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach German: Deliver dynamic, engaging lessons across a range of year groups using effective teaching strategies.
  • Curriculum Development: Plan and deliver well-structured teaching programmes, aligning with school objectives and educational standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Languages and the German teaching team to develop and refine schemes of work and learning activities.
  • Student Support: Track student progress, provide constructive feedback, and tailor teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Community Engagement: Participate actively in the co-curricular and pastoral life of the school.
  • Professional Development: Attend training sessions, parent-teacher meetings, and collaborate with colleagues to uphold teaching excellence.
  • Safeguarding: Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and ensure student wellbeing at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Undergraduate degree and a recognised teaching qualification enabling teaching in Kanton Zurich.

Experience: Proven success in teaching German in an international school setting, with a focus on student-centred learning.

Skills:

Strong organisational abilities and effective teamwork.

Confidence and competence in integrating IT into teaching.

Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Flexible and solutions-oriented mindset.

Language:

Native level or fluent German speaker with strong local connections and an appreciation for authentic partnerships in language learning.

Additional Expertise: Experience in developing assessment practices collaboratively is highly valued.

About International School, Zurich North (ISZN)

ISZN International School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational independent all-through school with sixth form in Switzerland, serving students from the age of 3-18. The all-through school is situated in Wallisellen, nearby to the city of Zurich.  It is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.

ISZN International School was established in 1999. The school offers an international curriculum taught in English, with pupils going on to sit IGCSE exams and A levels. Small class sizes are offered with a 1:8 teacher, student ratio. There are over 40 nationalities represented at the school. Facilities include a library, art room, science labs and access to a swimming pool at local sports centre.
