George Eliot is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. A smaller than average-sized secondary school, George Eliot will provide 950 places for secondary students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.
The George Eliot High School opened in September 1961, set up as a new provision for the housing developments being built in the Nuneaton area. The school has expanded in size several times since then to accommodate its growing pupil numbers, most notably in 2002 when two new buildings were opened.
Principal
Mrs Homeira Zakary
Values and Vision
George Eliot's motto is “Be Kind and Aim for Excellence”. It prides itself on providing an environment that encourages a love of learning and believes that all students have the potential to succeed. Although there is a strong focus on attaining excellent exam results, the school also focuses on developing students into well-rounded, confident and social individuals.
Ofsted
“The principal provides highly effective and inspirational leadership that embodies high expectations of staff and students. This has led to improvements in teaching and students’ progress. Students’ behaviour is good. They are keen to learn, respond well to teachers and are increasingly aspirational about their own futures.”
