Ashville College, Harrogate, is looking to appoint an experienced Teacher of Music to join our Music department. This is a part-time role (12 periods per fortnight) until July 2025.

 The successful candidate will need to teach class music lessons to pupils across the college and, where appropriate, contribute to the extra-curricular life of the department. An essential requirement for this role is to teach Key Stages 4 and 5.

A proven ability to teach music and inspire young people as well as a good music degree from a university or conservatoire would be beneficial for this role. The ability to play the piano would also be an advantage.

 The salary for this role is on the Ashville teaching pay scale.

The School operates a Defined Contribution (DC) pension plan with Legal and General (18% School contribution) and offers additional salary sacrifice for employee contributions (7-18%) to this plan. Ashville College is a co-educational, independent school for day and boarding pupils aged 2–18. The college, set in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, comprises a pre-school, prep school and senior school with pupil numbers totaling around 870, 170 of whom are in the sixth form and 100 are boarders. The school is a registered charity, administered by Ashville College Trustees.

Ashville College was founded in 1877 as a boarding school for boys by the United Methodist Free Church. Expansion over the decades culminated in a merger with Elmfield College, Harrogate, in the 1930s, by which time Ashville was the largest private school in the north of England.   The most significant development came in 1982 when the school become co-educational.
