Job overview

St.Gregory’s Catholic High School is offering a great opportunity for a teacher of Religious Education to join our successful and thriving school community for the duration of a maternity cover. St Gregory’s has once again been judged as a ‘Good’ school in our inspection of July 2024 and the report will be available from 11th September 2024.

This post is a full time or 0.8 maternity cover position. Candidates have the option of taking the post full time or at 0.8 (having Thursdays off work) to suit your personal work life balance if this would be of use to you.

The timetable is for Key Stage 3 RE and will be for up to 20 periods per week.

Whilst the cover is for a maternity leave, it can also potentially pave the way for a permanent position should future vacancies in the department arise. This has happened many times before at St Gregory’s.

What is great about working at St Gregory’s is that you will have the privilege of working with wonderful students who have a thirst for learning in an environment which is focused on positivity and strong relationships.

St Gregory’s is an incredible place to work, staff are positive and have excellent relationships with each other and the students that they work with. We have the highest pupil attendance levels in Warrington and at national level and the behaviour of pupils is excellent enabling high levels of teaching practice to take place without disruption.

The Religious Education team are a collaborative group of people to work with and you will be well supported in your career development to progress further. The team consists of 6 colleagues who produce competitive outcomes at both local and national level.

The Religious Education curriculum can be accessed here:

In January 2020, Ofsted’s inspection report, conducted under the new inspection framework, graded the school as ‘Good’ in every area and the school was graded as ‘Outstanding’ in our Section 48 Inspection of the Catholic Life provision of the school in February 2019. We encourage all applicants to read both reports and to review our school website too.

The opening paragraph from the Ofsted report reads: “There is a strong sense of community across the school which reflects the school vision. One pupil said “we are cared about as individuals, but because everyone cares, that makes us all one”

If you want to work in one of the best schools in the North West, this is the opportunity too good to miss for you to grow and be happy and successful in your career.

The school welcome and encourage potential applicants to discuss role with the Headteacher but this is not a formal requirement. We also encourage you to review our school website: https://www.stgregoryshigh.com/

Closing Date and notification of interview: Friday 17th January 2025

Interviews: Week commencing 20th January 2025

Further details and application forms are available from www.stgregoryshigh.com. Please return a completed CES application

Values and vision

The mission statement of St Gregory’s reads: “This is our God, the servant King. He calls us now to follow him.” The school’s prayer is: “Inspire us to build a community based on love and respect. May we be empowered to challenge injustice every day. Help us to value and support each other to create a positive Learning environment where all may serve. Amen.”

The staff, parents, governors and students of St. Gregory’s Catholic High School aim to work in partnership to create a vibrant community in which all are valued. At the core of school life is a belief that there is no better inspiration than the example and teaching of Jesus Christ.

The school community seeks to set an example of service, inspired by Jesus, and in doing so fulfil the aspirations that it has for each of its pupils, and to foster their spiritual, academic and personal development.

Ofsted
