This is an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Science to join a well-resourced department. We are looking for a passionate individual with a strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach one or more of the science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Applied Science). You will have the chance to be a key part of shaping the science provision at the college.

As part of this role, you will help to drive the department forward by contributing to the development of teaching practices, engaging with colleagues to share ideas, and supporting the growth of innovative STEM pathways. This role also includes an additional allowance up to £5,000pa with a specific area of responsibility to be agreed upon following appointment.

Our Science Department offers an extensive range of courses, including A Level Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Engineering, and Physics. Staff are supported by two dedicated technicians, modern facilities, and a recently remodelled Allied Health Department equipped with a Clinical Health Suite featuring cutting-edge technology. Teachers across the department may also support the delivery of our Vocational Applied Science and T-Level Health courses.

The role is suitable for New Qualified Teachers. The College has excellent in-house training programs for Early Career Teachers and aspiring leaders, ongoing CPD opportunities in-house, part of Norvic College Group, SFCA Group and AoC group and externally, and we would support individuals who would be taking their first steps into teaching. John Leggott College is a mixed, selective, non-denominational, general further education college situated in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. It is a 16-plus institution based on a single modern campus close to the town centre, with good access to surrounding rural areas. There are around 1,700 learners at the college, between the ages of 16-19, studying a range of academic and vocational courses.

The college was founded in 1958 as John Leggott Grammar School. The sixth form was established in 1968 in the midst of a Scunthorpe education reorganisation.
