No experience of working with children is necessary, but you will need:

·        the ability to relate well to children

·        the confident to assist students on an individual basis and in small group/whole class work

·        excellent communication and motivational skills to engage young people

·        the ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence

·        enthusiasm for supporting students with differing needs/ability

·        knowledge of the diverse demands of working in a multi-cultural environment

Hours of work - 29 hours 10 mins/week (over 5 days), term time only

The post is graded on scale points APT&C Points 8 - 11 (£24,702 to £25,979 – pay award pending) pro rata

Actual salary based on term time only - £16,468 - £17,319

Moor Park High School and Sixth Form is a small and popular 11-18 Foundation School serving a vibrant and diverse community in the heart of Preston, Lancashire. Set alongside a large and beautiful heritage park, Moor Park prides itself on bringing the very best of its historical grammar school traditions into a modern and dynamic context that inspires excellence in all we do.  We are proud of our school and grateful to work in the heart of this diverse and vibrant community.

The school is at a very exciting time in its development.  The current Headteacher was appointed in January 2017 and in 2018 we were the most improved secondary school in Lancashire, our standards continue to go from strength to strength.  Our most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2021 established that the school is now firmly ‘Good’ and that safety, good behaviour and high expectations permeate every part of school life. The report also notes that; “Teachers enjoy working at the school. They feel valued and supported by senior leaders and governors.”

The professional development of the staff remains a high priority and our excellent provision was praised by Ofsted. We are fully committed to professional learning and we invest in our staff and invest heavily in their professional development.  We promote vibrant professional discourse and we develop careers. We want to create a healthy profession as well as a healthy school.  This commitment to our staff is contained in our Wellbeing Charter which guarantees that the emotional and physical wellbeing of our staff is given top priority.
