This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to work at our Maiden Erlegh School.

Day to day responsibilities will be varied but will include:

  • Providing day to day classroom support to students, and assisting with pupil behaviour.
  • Committing to raising the aspirations and achievement of all our pupils.
  • Establishing good relationships and acting as a role model.
  • Encouraging students to engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Helping to plan lessons by preparing materials and resources.

Our ideal candidates will:

  • Have highly effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Have the ability to recognise and manage challenging behaviour.
  • Work as part of a team or on your own initiative.
  • Understand that punctuality is imperative.
  • Be a hard worker.
  • Want to and be part of a really supportive Inclusion team at Maiden Erlegh School.

The successful applicant will enjoy working with 11-18-year-olds. You must be adaptable and willing to be involved in all aspects of school life, have a calm manner and be able to work as part of team. You will share our inclusive values which are to Aim high – Be inclusive – Work together; and you will have a willingness to develop your own practice in line with our ethos of continuous improvement.

Maiden Erlegh School is a highly successful comprehensive school for students from 11-18 years old, situated in Lower Earley, near Reading. Our students are a delight to work with and relationships between students and staff are extremely positive and constructive. Students are keen to learn, curious, respectful, polite and fun. They rise to challenges positively and enthusiastically and have high expectations of themselves. This is why they achieve such impressive academic and personal successes, and our results continue to improve year on year - this year placing us in the top 50 schools nationally for Progress 8. We also have a thriving 6th form and many of our students stay on to study here.

Maiden Erlegh School, an Ofsted awarded 'Outstanding' school in all inspection categories, is a highly successful comprehensive school providing education and enrichment for over 1,800 students aged 11-18. 

We have been serving our local community for more than 50 years and were one of the first schools nationally to convert to an academy 2011.
