Job overview
We are delighted to be working with John Lyon's Charity on a project to support vulnerable pupils through their transition from primary to secondary school.
This unique role will involve working with our local primary schools to identify vulnerbale pupils and to work with them and their families over an extended period of time (for some this will be Year 5 to Year 9). You will work closely with pastoral leaders, our Grow and Thrive team, as well as colleagues in the primary schools to help children overcome their barriers to learning both inside and outside the school, and to develop into young people with a passion to make a positive contribution to society.
Saracens High School has a family ethos and is committed to supporting staff in this rewarding job, while recognising the stress it puts upon us. With free use of the school gym, the opportunity for colleagues to take family days, and access to a staff counsellor, we do all we can to look after our staff. We offer exceptional training and development opportunities and do all we can to support you in this role, and to achieve your aspirations, while you help the children to achieve theirs.
With strong ties to the wider Saracens organisation, we base all we do on the values Discipline, Hard Work, Honesty, and Humility. Our approach to education focuses on character development and making memories, as much as outstanding academic attainment. Our aim is to develop aspirational life-long learners, who will thrive in their chosen career path, embracing our values, and demonstrating a strong moral purpose and a desire to make a positive contribution to society and their local community. We deliver an outstanding education based on the highest expectations of academic achievement and personal development that will enable pupils to progress to the best universities, successfully compete for sought after apprenticeships, or thrive in employment.
To realise our vision, we embrace and live our core Saracens Values of Discipline, Honesty, Hard Work and Humility by:
- Ensuring our schools are orderly, safe, and joyful places where our pupils are governed and guided in their behaviour by fair and sensible principles.
- Empowering our staff to embrace the latest thinking and use teaching styles that reflect the culture of success and commitment to character development, with achievement celebrated as warmly as attainment.
- Retaining a focus on supporting those communities most in need, striving for equality of opportunity for all. Building community hubs around our schools, through mutually beneficial partnerships with local businesses, organisations, and individuals.
- Insisting on an honest appraisal of the efforts and attitude of staff in their work and pupils in all areas of their education and school life.
- Creating an environment where all members of the school community work incredibly hard to fulfill the potential of each individual and strive for continuous improvement in everything that we do.
- Placing equal emphasis on character education and enrichment as academic attainment, so that pupils are prepared for life beyond school.
- Creating a quality of life for all staff and pupils that is both enjoyable and impactful, to make memories they take pride in and cherish for the rest of their lives.
- Utilising the networks of the broader Saracens family to strengthen our school communities.
- Achieving our outcomes sustainably, through strong financial governance and protecting and nurturing our surrounding environment.
