About the Role 

As a member of the Information Centre Team, you will play a key role in supporting students with a diverse range of learning needs. Our goal is to maximise the learning outcomes for each student including those with disability. You will work individually and collectively with students and staff to maximise learning outcomes, increase classroom participation and promote independent learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support an approach to learning support in the school that fosters independence and growth for students - gradual release of responsibility. 
  • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
  • Assist with the collation and analysis of data to assist in effective feedback to the Merici community as needed.
  • Supports the general student management and pastoral approach in the school in all contact with students.
  • Help supervise and work with students in the Homework centre in the iC after school as required

Qualifications

  • ACT Working With Vulnerable Peoples registration (or the willingness to obtain)
  • First Aid Certificate (or the willingness to obtain)
  • Certificate IV in Education Support (Desirable)

Selection Criteria 

  1. Applies knowledge in areas and a range of skills in a variety of roles and tasks
  2. Uses discretion and judgement in organising and achieving outcomes under time constraints
  3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, in particular, the ability to relate to students and to work collaboratively with staff member
  4. Initiative and the ability to handle several tasks concurrently, working independently and flexibly to adjust to changing situations

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
