Eight lessons, with room for extensions, on Noughts and Crosses. These lessons explore the text practically, but also prepare pupils for Component 3 of the Eduqas GCSE Drama.

This resource is perfect for pupils studying GCSE Drama. The resource has examples of stage types; how set designer work, such as Bunny Christie and relevant practical tasks. The tasks within the resource will allow pupils to explore how to design for stage using either composite, naturalistic or non-naturalistic approaches

Pupils studying WJEC & Eduqas GCSE Drama will find this useful when answering the staging question in written exam.

This session is based around devising non-naturalistic drama, students receive a bag of drama devices/techniques, which I refer to as ingredients (reinforcing the theme), which they then have to apply to their devising process.

This session has been devised for KS3 year nine (upper four), but can be delivered to level three students on courses such as OCR/BTEC Diploma’s in Performing Arts. I suggest, if you do deliver this at level three, extend the main activity, by asking students to devise with a specific practitioner in mind, for example, Artaud or Brecht.

To reinforce the course level you could also ask they students to write an artist intentions document or proposal, as if they were presenting their ideas to potential funders.

I’ve had lots of fun with this lesson, as has my students. Enjoy it, and don’t take it too serious!

This lesson plan and resources have been designed to use when teaching on the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts, units Singing for Actors and Dancers, and Singing Technique.

This is a great resources to inspire and encourage Drama students to learn many different theatrical conventions, and concepts.

Students should start the term with the card empty, and hopefully fill it up by the end of the term. I use this Bingo card alongside a devising SOW.

Update the rewards as you see appropriate, and have fun.

This is a easy read fact sheet on the surrealist movement, and it’s influence on Antonin Artaud. This resource could be used as an introduction to surrealism and Artaud, for KS3 and any level 3 programme of study.
