Split class into 4 groups - Each group has a different focus (Cook, Jester, Knight or Gong Farmer) Children then work with member of staff or independently according to ability to use the facts provided to create a mind map to plan a diary entry in the life of a medieval castle worker (their focus). Children then use the colourful prompt sheets for their focus job and on the differentiated writing templates, write a diary entry from their workers point of view.

Lesson designed for year 2/3 children. Practical lesson around bubbles. PowerPoint presentation with facts and explanations. Children to investigate blowing bubbles with different bubble wand designs (Big, small, round, shaped etc.) Children to write predictions on what they think will happen on a worksheet. Children go outside and investigate in groups of 2 or 3 the different types of bubble wands. Children then record their findings (What wand created the biggest bubble? Which wand created the longest floating bubble? Were the bubbles different shapes?). Children to give reasons behind why they think this is the case using the PowerPoint for guidance. Children then design their own bubble wand using their findings from the lesson. This is designed over a 2 lesson period. Following in from this for another lesson, children could then make their wand designs and investigate/test them.
