A full half term of work for the Microbit Monsters unit in DT. This unit combines textiles (running, back and cross stitches, using a pattern piece, sewing on buttons and beads, sewing 2 good sides together) and controlling a microbit using the BBC microbit website. I have included everything I used; vocab sheet, powerpoint slides, investigation sheets and evaluation sheets. You will just need to make some microbit monsters to show the children in the first place. The slideshow contains some pics of monsters my children have made previously. It is set up sepcifically for my school, so will need some twaeking to your requirements. The LGT - Let’s Get Thinking - activity starts every lesson and it uses the DT cycle I devised for my school.

Originally intended for a Year 3/4 mixed class but can be adapted to suit any KS2 class. This unit gets the children to make pop up books based around the science unit they have previously covered. (but this can be easily amended to be any topic of your choice, there is very little mention of the actual science in this unit) The unit includes: children’s planning sheet on word, Smart Notebook 11 file, how to guides for making pop ups (on publisher), identification sheets for when looking through pop up books / cards / examples, worksheets for the children to complete and planning and evaluation sheets for the children when making their own pop up book in groups (mostly on publisher). Edit: I have now added the lesson presentation slides as a PDF, you won’t get all the features you get with smart notebook, but it will give you a start. I have lowered the price of the bundle in anticipation of any further issues with smart notebook.

Completely editable word documents for writing up science investigations in KS1 and KS2, which can be personalised to suit any science investigation. The accompanying publisher documents are a great visual aid helping teachers talk through the investigation cycle in the first place.

Originally intended for a mixed 3/4 class investigating, making and evaluating magnetic games in DT. There is an IWB to work through the set of 6 lessons plus worksheets for the children to complete on investigating magnetic games, designing their own (in a group) and evaluating their completed game.

An easy to use set of how to guides for using tools for primary school DT. These are perfect to give to new or recently qualified teachers teaching their first DT lessons. Using these should eliminate any worry about using tools in DT and could even form part of your risk assessments.

Originally designed for a y4 class and linked to the topic of St Lucia. But can easily be adapted to suit other themes, all word docs and smartboards are fully editable. Package includes word doc of planning, word doc full of children’s worksheets and smartboard with links and visual aids.

DT should be fun, not daunting, but its taught so infrequently in ITT that often teachers feel very under skilled but this resource will solve that problem!
