Sins are described in second powerpoint and can be printed out and scattered around the room for students to locate and try to simplify, this is also great for literacy.</p>
<p>Great resource and lesson that has been used as a project over a few lessons. Great for investigation work in KS3. Break it down to look firstly at why the Somme was chosen for the 1916 attack. Then shift attention to why there were so many casualties on the first day, sources can be used to look at cause and consequence, or focus on source interpretation or both! students have opportunity to investigate as teams and pass knowledge on. Then focus on how far Haig was to blame for casualties and the pyramid task enables students to build up the concept of how to prioritise information.<br />

<p>A lesson focusing on the experience of people in occupied Europe during the Second World War. The case study looks at key terminology such as Collaboration and Resistance. It aims to get students to question the choices made by countries and then individuals and reassess their choices, by putting them in their shoes and investigating choices and consequences.</p>

The first part focuses on theories behind the defeat, the second focuses on watching the film ‘Zulu Dawn’ so that students can build up more own knowledge to explain reasons for defeat of British. Third part focuses on comparing Isandlwana to Rorkes drift. The main focus is to look at causes and consequences and builds this in as an assessment. with tips on improving writing skills and gaining a higher level of answer. A really fun set of lessons, but you will need access to the two famous films (Zulu Dawn and Zulu) I use this resource with Year 8 over 3 or 4 lessons to build in literacy, independence and causation.
